Selecting The Right System For Your Home

bryantA properly sized air conditioner is critical for home comfort and energy efficiency. An undersized unit can’t keep up on the hottest days, leaving you struggling to feel comfortable. An oversized unit is prone to short-cycling, leading to higher energy bills and excess indoor humidity. A formal load calculation will determine your home’s cooling needs.

Many factors contribute to summer heat gain, including:

  • Square footage and ceiling height
  • Home orientation and window layout
  • Insulation levels and air infiltration rates
  • Building occupancy and interior heat gain

Many residential central air conditioners are split systems. This means the condensing coil and exhaust fan are located in an exterior unit while the evaporator coil and blower motor are positioned indoors near the furnace. While packaged systems are less common, your Hamilton Heating and Cooling technician can help you make the proper selection for your home.

Cooled air from a central air conditioner is delivered through supply ducts, and warm air circulates back to the unit via return ducts. The easiest time to install ductwork is during new home construction, though retrofits are also possible.

Our Process

Site Evaluation

We will come to your home and do a standard site inspection that includes determining your active living space and calculating the recommended cooling specifications to efficiently do the job. If you have a current system we will evaluate our calculations against the current system performance. We will also inspect all plumbing and electrical hook-ups to determine if your new cooling system will work with the existing set-up.

Estimate and Scheduling

Hamilton Heating and Cooling will provide a detailed estimate for all components and labor for your project. Depending on our current workload, and the state of your needs, we will provide a schedule for the removal of any previous equipment, installation of the new system, and clean-up of the site. Please NOTE: Depending on seasonal demand and the complexity of the project, both the schedule and the estimate may reflect those conditions.

Installation and Testing

Depending on the situation, most installations can be completed in one day, with more complex projects extending to another day. You can help our team by removing any clutter or materials impeding access to your air conditioning system. Our installation team will be onsite early in the day to assure everything is completed and working to your expectatation. Final testing of the system will complete the process.

Follow-up and Review

Typically, it is not necessary for a follow-up to any installation or repair project, but at Hamilton Heating and Cooling, we want to assure your complete satisfaction of the job we performed. We will make the necessary adjustments as needed to exceed your expectations.
